Contrary to popular belief, high quality British manufacturing is not dead, and here's the proof. We aim to support local suppliers whenever possible, and when we looked at developing our range of handmade ottomans we went straight to the Long Eaton area of Nottingham which for decades has been universally recognised as the place to source the very best in hand-crafted furniture. Our ottomans are produced by highly skilled craftspeople, using traditional methods and only the finest materials.

A Modelli handmade ottoman really is something to behold and will enhance any interior. Used in a living-room, it not only provides extra seating when required, but also offers generous storage space for magazines, DVD's, remote controls or anything else you might prefer not to be on show ! In a bedroom it makes a great blanket box and looks simply stunning at the foot of a bed. In short, beautiful and practical.

Once your handmade ottoman has been delivered, and before you even open the box, you will begin to see why you have made a very shrewd investment. The first thing to strike you will be the sheer weight of our ottomans. Nearly 30kg to be precise! This may sound an implausible figure, but when you consider what goes into our handmade ottomans you will not be so surprised.

• Frames are constructed from fully seasoned solid beech, glued and screwed. Beech is the wood of choice for any high level piece of furniture as it produces a rock-solid frame, and is highly resistant to warping, bowing or other stresses caused by humidity and heat. A beech framed article will last for years and years and can be recovered many times during its lifetime.
• Side and top panels made from marine grade plywood, again specifically used to resist warping.
• Feet blocks made from solid beech.
• Solid wood feet in either beech or mahogany finish.
• High density foams and fillings used throughout.
• Fully tension sprung Hettich hinges - help keep the lid fully supported when open.

Once you have opened your ottoman, the next thing to strike you will be the sheer perfection of the workmanship. The attention to detail is astonishing wherever you look - even on the inside ! Take the example of the ottoman you see here - notice how the stripes are perfectly matched throughout, how the corners are tucked in so precisely and how clean the finished article looks.

How to Order Your Handmade Ottoman

Ordering a superb handmade ottoman couldn't be simpler. Firstly, browse through our huge fabric collection and request free sample cuttings of whatever takes your fancy. We stock more than 900 fabrics so there's every chance you will find exactly what you are looking for. Samples will be rushed to you. If they are not quite right first time, then ask for some more!

Once you have decided on your ideal fabric, then simply go to that fabric on our site, and select the option for ordering ottomans. We offer two standard sizes:-

Medium Ottoman - 110cm wide x 42.5cm high x 42.5cm deep - Prices From £430 inc VAT
Large Ottoman - 120cm wide x 42.5cm high x 55cm deep - Prices From £465 inc VAT

You can also choose between beech or mahogany feet.

If you would like a special size, or perhaps different feet then don't despair ! Since our ottomans are custom-produced to order, we can accommodate any particular requirement you may have - simply ask and we will come straight back to you with a full quotation!

Delivery, Terms and Conditions

Our ottomans are made strictly to order - clients are therefore advised to allow at least 15 working for despatch from the date of order. Our delivery charge of £6.95 covers any UK mainland address, if you live outside this area we will happily quote for shipping. The client is responsible for ensuring that the correct size, fabric and foot configuration is ordered - mistakes made at point of ordering cannot be rectified afterwards as all orders are considered to be one-offs. Unless otherwise instructed, we will ship ottoman orders as soon as they are available - however customers may specify a certain day for delivery between Monday and Friday if required. We use UPS for shipping and delivery is between 9.00 and 17.00. It is possible to specify a time-slot but extra charges apply - we can advise as necessary.

Ottomans should be fully inspected on arrival and all packaging should be retained until inspection is complete and the client is fully satisfied with the product. Clients should inform Modelli immediately if there any issues arising from the wrong product being delivered (i.e., a different fabric to the one specified, or the wrong size, colour of feet etc), or if the product is materially damaged on receipt. Clients are respectfully advised that we can only accept returns and eventual refunds if either of the above criteria apply, and that any goods sent back to Modelli following our agreement to so do must be in their original packaging.
