They always say that you get what you pay for and furniture is no exception. The key to any piece of high quality furniture is not what you see on the outside, rather what is on the inside. Unfortunately for customers this is not always apparent - a cheap frame or poor quality fillings will appear fine for a while, but over time components will start to fail, fillings will start to collapse etc. What appeared to be good value at the time can soon become poor value if you are having to replace sofas or chairs every few years.
Our range of handcrafted furniture is made to the highest possible specifications and will give customers many years of use.

Like a chassis on a car, or the footings on a house, the frame is the key component in any high quality piece of furniture.
Our frames are made using hardwood which is glued, screwed and dowelled giving a rock-solid construction. Designed to withstand warping, bowing and twisting. Compare this to how volume frames are made - softwood, stapled together, thin back rails, bracing pieces made of mdf !
FILLINGS
As with our frames we only use the best. Seats are fully coil sprung and pocketed. Back springs are serpentine D arc. High density foam/fibre cushions. Scatters are duck feather with a cotton cambric cover.
CUTTING AND SEWING
Fabrics are cut and sewn by hugely experienced craftspeople and upholstered using traditional methods.
FINISHING TOUCHES
All sofa and chair bases use hand-tacked Hessian applied in the traditional way. Feet/legs are solid wood attached to solid wood feet blocks.

All Modelli upholstery fabrics are flame retardant as standard and undergo the most rigorous testing both prior to and after launching to ensure total compliance to British Standards. Every upholstery fabric we sell can be used for any domestic upholstery and soft furnishing purpose. Many are machine washable and suitable for contract use.
